Last October I had one short afternoon to photograph Edinburgh, Scotland. Of course the focus is on Edinburgh Castle since it dominates every view. I found this nice composition in the park below, that nicely framed the castle in the fall foliage. The problem was that sky, dull, grey and featureless. But it was a great shot none the less. Great shots however have never been raw, that is there is a great deal of processing that goes on. The great photographer Ansel Adems spent countless hours in the darkroom squeezing every last pixel. So I present, the latest innovation of using artificial intelligence to replace that dull, grey sky with a more interesting one. I did take that sky shot, not in Edinburgh but in Montreal, and realized it would frame the castle so nicely. I think it worked!
Sparsely populated, culturally distinct and geologically varied Scotland is a wealth of new experiences. From the city centers of Edinburgh and Glasgow, to the Highlands, to the distilleries and of course, all of those castles there is much to see and experience.

A Tragic End
Edinburgh is a very interesting city. The skyline is dominated by Edinburgh Castle, which is really a fortress atop a volcanic bulge. On a quick tour of the highlands we stopped in at Dunkirk, a quaint little village, for Lunch. Then we made our way to Loch Ness managing to catch a great sunset at Loch End. The next day we made a quick stop at Glen Coe before visiting the Three Sisters. However the day started with a visit to Urquhart Castle on the shores of Loch Ness, here pictured in black and white. I should acknowledge that the Hairy Coo picture is courtesy of my daughter, I love the posing.
