Rainforests draped in mist, long beaches shaped by Pacific weather, and sunsets that seem to linger just a little longer—Vancouver Island offers the kind of visual rhythm photographers travel for. I spent one week exploring this rugged corner of British Columbia, and while seven days only scratches the surface, it was enough to understand why the island has such a distinct creative pull. Capturing that West Coast feeling in words is no easy task, but this journey is certainly worth sharing. Read it here.

I spent an all too short week on Vancouver Island exploring the beaches, rain forests and rocky coasts. Such great scenery. Quarry Lake in Canmore, Alberta is one of my favorite spots for fall landscape photography and very close to town itself. Some lanes are busy with restaurants and visitors, but with a little patience and curiosity, it is possible to find quieter corners that feel entirely your own. These passages weave through the old town with a rhythm that changes from one block to the next: a church steeple appearing above a roofline, a bicycle leaning against a textured wall, a sliver of light cutting across worn stone. One of the few bird's eye views of a glacial lake coupled with a relatively easy hike. https://photographicjourney.ca/travel-guides/ Gamla Stan is not the only architectural marvel in Stockholm. Their city hall is also very impressive. Constructed in the early 20th century, they used over 8 million bricks in the construction. This is where the Nobel Banquet is held every year. For more check out my post at https://photographicjourney.ca/2026/08/02/under-scandinavian-skies/ The visual charm of Gamla Stan is perhaps most concentrated in Stortorget Square, Stockholm’s oldest public square. Framed by colorful merchant houses and surrounded by centuries of history, it is also one of the city’s most photographed locations. Pictured is Iron Boy - a 12 cm tall sculpture by artist Liss Erikson and placed here in the 1960's. I love the way he is looking to the sky.
