Mount Rundle stretches for over 12km's from Canmore to the town of Banff. It dominates the landscape and there are so many locations for great photography. Pictured is Mistaya Canyon, a marvel of the power of water sculpting a slot canyon in the sandstone. Construction began in 1905 and the lighthouse is still operational today. Then you need to go to Bird Rock at Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve. Pictured are a mating pair of Common Murres, keeping a watchful eye on all the action. This view is just outside of Mistaya Canyon, looking towards the Saskatchewan River Crossing. Those long neck feathers are their breeding plumage, something you will only see in the spring. https://photographicjourney.ca/2023/04/23/wakodahatchee-wetlands/ Peyto (pronounced Pee-toh) Lake in Banff National Park was named after Bill Peyto, an early trail guide and trapper in the Rockies. This was shot at the Wakodahatchee Wetlands, close to Delray Beach in southern Florida. A great location for bird photography. Supposedly these are the second highest waterfalls in Canada. One of those is Peyto Lake. A short hike from the parking lot and you are faced with incredible views of the turquoise waters of the lake.
