Feeling the Parisian Heat

A Summer Heat Wave Photography Tour Through ParisExploring Vancouver Island

Mackenzie Beach Sunset

Photographing Paris during an extreme summer heat wave was never going to be easy. But with no shot list, no fixed agenda, and only a loose intention to follow the light, I set out to capture what it felt like to move through the city when the temperatures soared to 42 degrees. Read it here.

2027 Calendar – Fund Raising for Men’s Health

I am thrilled to announce my first ever fund raising project based on my photography. At its heart, Movember has always been a grassroots, community-led movement. It belongs to everyone who grows, donates, shares and participates. And what it is all about is men’s health, whether it is suicide prevention, mental health or cancer, it’s about helping men get healthier.

Peyto Lake – The Wolf Spirit

I am offering my 2027 Canadian Rockies calendar, full of my favorite images that I have captured from Banff and Yoho National Parks. I will donate all profits to Movember. I am asking $35.00 per calendar and will ship anywhere in Canada. To reserve your copy send me a message by filling out the form below. This is completely confidential and I abide by all CASL regulations. Thanks so much for your help.

I was completely out of my comfort zone in Paris this past June, and it was not because the daytime high was 42 degrees (but that didn't help). I set out to practice street and architectural photography, two themes I am very much less practiced at. To read the full story, check out my post at https://photographicjourney.ca/2026/10/04/feeling-the-parisian-heat/ There is nothing like remembering a summer sunset over the Sunflower fields on a warm, humid August evening. Especially when it is dreary, dark and wet outside. Taken in Coteau du Lac, QC. If you ever find yourself in Victoria, BC make sure to check out the beautiful Butchart Gardens about 30 minutes from downtown. This passion project by Jeannie Butchart converted a limestone quarry into the beautiful gardens you see today. Definitely worth visiting. The Butchart Gardens, about 30 minutes from Victoria, BC is a beautiful botanical garden founded by visionary Jennie Butchart. The Japanese Garden was especially beautiful and I loved this Japanese Maple. The tree was about 2 feet above ground level, and I was essentially laying on the ground to get this shot. I love the colors. The phrase 'Canada's rainforests' seems like an oxymoron, but that is exactly what you will find on Vancouver Island, Pacific Rim National Park. The Rainforest Trail is a great introduction to the Canadian version of a rainforest. Long, wide and sandy beaches abound and despite the cool water, it was still very comfortably warm despite the thermometer reading less than 10 degrees in the morning. Half the beauty of Tonquin Beach is the Tonquin Trail. The trailhead is just outside of Tofino and snakes its way for 300 meters through moss, ferns and Douglas Firs. Just a beauty. The fog had set in solidly creating that moody atmosphere at Tonquin Beach which is just south of Tofino, BC. The Tonquin Trail weaves its way through the rain forest to reach the beach. For more check out https://photographicjourney.ca/2026/08/30/feeling-that-west-coast-vibe/ The west coast of Vancouver Island is famous for its sunsets. But you need to be patient for the right conditions, this one image from Mackenzie Beach, just south of Tofino took me four days of waiting for the right clouds. These giants can easily tower over 100 meters tall, creating their own ecosystem at those heights.
