There are just so many awesome stops and views on the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park. One of those is Peyto Lake. A short hike from the parking lot and you are faced with incredible views of the turquoise waters of the lake. This windmill was constructed in the early 1700's and is still operable today. It is located on the point that juts out into the St. Lawrence river. It's a pretty brutal location, being right on the water, it can be windy and cold. Good for a visit in the summer. #lccphotoclub #windmill #imagesofcanada #explorecanada #Quebecenimage Crowfoot Mountain on Bow Lake was named after three toes of a glacier that resembled a Crow's foot. You may be challenged to find it now since the middle toe has since disappeared. Still there are great views at the shores of the lake. For more about Bow Lake photography check out my latest post. Link in Bio. What a difference conditions make! These two shots of Crowfoot mountain were taken about 1 year apart. The first during blue hour, the second was taken midday under cloudy conditions. Some of the views around Bow Lake. Fall is a great time to visit, the colors are changing, the sun sticks close to the horizon, and there is a nice nip in the fresh air. This is a view looking south along the Bow Valley. Eventually the clouds dispersed, but it took about two hours.
