Newfoundland and Labrador are just so unique, the history, the culture, the people and the geography. Newfoundland and Labrador also feature some top spots for wildlife, like whales, moose, and the unforgettable Puffin. I had a couple of opportunities to photograph these “Clowns of the Sea” and am happy to share these photographs.
I am proud to say that my image of Puffins sitting on a rock next to the ocean won Honorable Mention from CAPA in the fall of 2025. The title of the image is “Watchin You – Watchin Me”. This was taken in Newfoundland in early July. I saw this group of Puffins all looking out towards the ocean. I got down onto the ground, lined up the composition and took a couple of shots. Then it was a matter of waiting for some action. After about ten minutes the second from left Puffin starting to move it’s head as it was looking around and I knew the moment would be soon to come.

Puffin Art
I have stylized some of my Puffin pictures as oil paintings, giving them a smoother artistic look.

Everyone Loves a Puffin!
Here are many of the same images, but not retouched as oil paintings.
